Get Fit for Wedding Season

Wedding Season will be here before you know it. Whether you’re in the wedding party, the bride herself or a guest of a guest, you know you want to look your best for the big day. You’ll want to strut your stuff on the dance floor and look great in all the photos, which is why we turned to LA-based Celebrity Trainer Danny Musico, best known for training stars like Carrie Underwood, Hillary Swank and Jessica Simpson, for his tips on how to slim down for wedding season.

Danny gave us the inside scoop on how to prep for wedding season slim down 4 months out, 2 months out and 2 weeks before. Check out his tips.

 

4 Months Out: Amp Up the Cardio

This is the ultimate time to ramp up the cardio interval workouts combined with weight training. Use lighter weight and higher reps but still make every rep explosive. This will help shed the pounds and burn the fat without your body burning muscle as fuel. Start fine tuning your diet by cutting back on sugars, bad fats, carbs and alcohol, and focus on increasing your protein consumption. To fight the initial slump of getting back into a fitness routine, drink a Celsius to get energized. 2 Months Out: Tone Up

Start adding muscle by keeping cardio at around 30 minute daily intervals. At this point, you can decrease to 4 days of cardio a week and start adding weight to your exercises. Decrease to around 8 reps with the 8th rep becoming almost a struggle. No struggle? The weight is too light. Keeping up the cardio with fast intervals will create lean, sexy muscle.

2 Weeks Out: Abs, Abs, Abs

This stage is all about focusing on the abs by hitting them from every direction, while still maintaining the rest of your daily routine. Target your abs daily by switching up the exercises with and without weight added. Plank till you drop!
