The inventor you never heard of …

. . .  All things Bakelite: The Age of Plastics Sunday, November 3rd – 4 to 6pm – at the Bedford Playhouse
Join us for a showing of the award-winning 2018 documentary “All Things Bakelite: The Age of Plastic” followed by a discussion and Q&A with Executive Producer, Hugh Karrakerin.
This joyous and provocative film tells the story of Belgian-born American chemist Leo Hendrik Baekeland, the “father of modern plastics.” In 1907, he made one of the most transformative discoveries of the 20th century: Bakelite, the world’s first wholly synthetic plastic. His discovery ushered in an explosion of new man-made materials that marked the beginnings of our modern industrial age.
The film will be shown at The Bedford Playhouse in collaboration with the New Castle and Mount Kisco Historical Societies. Tickets are available here.
