Pound Ridge Celebrates Pride Month with 1st Annual Pound Ridge Color Run on June 4!

Hosted by the Pound Ridge Partnership and the Human Rights Advisory Committee

Hosted by the Pound Ridge Partnership in collaboration with the Human Rights Advisory Committee, the Pound Ridge Color Run is the town’s first-ever 5K Road Race & Fun Run commemorating Pride Month! We invite area runners and families to join us as we celebrate our LGBTQ+ community and foster inclusivity, all while getting drenched in Holi-inspired colors. Registration is now open through the event website at poundridgecolorrun.com.

“We are energized by our new collaboration with the Human Rights Advisory Committee and thrilled to be an integral part of the 1st annual Pound Ridge Color Run,” said Terri Pike, Vice President of the Pound Ridge Partnership. “The event’s community-building spirit around LGBTQ+ members is a perfect tie to The Partnership’s mission and our Proud Day keystones of beautification, education, and community.”

The Pound Ridge Color Run, taking place on the same day as the Pound Ridge Partnership’s Proud Day, is a brand- new addition to the day’s town-wide beautification activities. The 5K Road Race will start at Pound Ridge Elementary School on Saturday, June 4, at 9:00 a.m. The Fun Run will start approximately 15 minutes later. Both courses wind their way through Pound Ridge and finish at Scotts Corners. The Fun Run is untimed and shorter than the Road Race, making it a great option for families with younger children who would like to participate at their own pace. All participants will have an opportunity to be doused with colored powder, a festive Indian tradition known as Holi that welcomes the coming of spring and encourages love and kindness toward all.

“We are so excited to be working with the Partnership to bring Pride Month festivities to town,” said Sharbari Bose Kamat, Chair of the Human Rights Advisory Committee. “The Pound Ridge Color Run is a chance to celebrate who we are as individuals and who we are as a community. With the launch of this annual event, the Committee honors LGBTQ+ residents and neighbors, and highlights our core values of cultural understanding, mutual respect, and inclusivity. Plus, we get to have fun in our beautiful outdoors!”

About the Pound Ridge Partnership

Led by an energetic group of volunteers, the Pound Ridge Partnership is an independent, non-partisan, community-based organization aimed at bringing together residents, business owners, landlords, and community leaders to support and improve the Pound Ridge Business District. The Partnership envisions the Business District as a gathering place for Pound Ridge residents of all genres, including families and children, and as a destination for residents from other communities who come to enjoy the unique, country atmosphere of the district and take part in its retail and dining experience featuring the arts, antiques, and local produce and cuisines. The Partnership collaborates with the Human Rights Advisory Committee (HRAC) by serving as the fiscal sponsor for the Pound Ridge Color Run event. This allows the HRAC to fund and promote the event as part of our annual Proud Day initiative.

About the Human Rights Advisory Committee

The mission of the Human Rights Advisory Committee (HRAC) is to provide guidance to the Town of Pound Ridge on diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and policies that improve outcomes for marginalized populations and the community at-large. The Committee hosts events that support cultural understanding, mutual respect, and inclusivity and assists the Town of Pound Ridge in strengthening relationships with local organizations, among other tasks. The Pound Ridge Color Run is the HRAC’s first collaboration with the Pound Ridge Partnership, which is financially supporting the event and making it possible for our Advisory Committee to launch a town-wide Pride Month celebration.
