After a sold out performance in 2014, Pink Martini returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse! This “little orchestra” combines retro glamour with a sophisticated songbook of classical, jazz, world music and timeless pop in multiple languages. Their cocktail of meticulous musicianship and sparkling showmanship, served with a twist of humor, have won them audiences spanning nations and generations. This concert features vocalist China Forbes, a “pitch-perfect chanteuse who…tempers heartbreak with savoir-faire” (New York Times). The Ridgefield Playhouse and Moffly Media Evening of Art, Wine and Jazz Series Presents Pink Martini on Wednesday, May 31 at 8 p.m.
Ticket holders can enjoy a complimentary Italian wine tasting by Gallo Ristorante and an art exhibit in the lobby at 7:15pm. One of the world’s most elegant live bands, Pink Martini’s repertoire embraces a risk-taking blend of jazz (mainly swing), world music, cabaret, lounge, and 1940s-1950s film music in addition to crowd pleasing classical, pop and jazz arrangements by founder, bandleader and pianist Thomas Lauderdale, showcased by the lux vocals of long term collaborator China Forbes, alongside the eclectic instrumentals of their one of a kind, 11-piece ensemble. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show! Visit Piccolo’s Pizza and Jazzeria (24 Prospect Street, Ridgefield) and enjoy a complimentary glass of house wine with your entree when you show your ticket! Media sponsor for this event is CPBN Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network. For tickets ($67.50), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
