Hispanic Heritage Month | Restaurants Bringing Latin Food, Music & Culture to Times Square

Hispanic Heritage Month is now officially underway I’d like to showcase several restaurants that are bringing Latin cuisine, music, and culture to the heart of New York City.

victor's Cafe food

  • Victor’s Café (236 W 52nd St) – Sonia Zaldivar is the second-generation co-owner of Victor’s Café, the renowned Cuban restaurant founded by her parents, Victor Del Corral and Eloina Ruiz de Ugarrio, in 1963. Together with her youngest daughter and co-owner Monica Zaldivar, the two women carry on the rich legacy of the family business while also infusing the restaurant with new ideas such as modernizing Cuban cuisine. The rich flavors of the food are paired with a curated playlist that combines traditional Cuban and Hispanic music, lounge melodies, jazzy tunes, and soft hip hop beats, as well as live music on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights starting at 5:30 pm.

Pink Taco Times Square

  • Pink Taco (7 Times Sq) – This lively taco spot offers an eclectic mix of traditional and modern Mexican dishes made with bold flavors that match the vibrant artwork and ambient pink lighting that adorn the 10,500 square-foot space. Visitors can expect a heavy emphasis on music with a state-of-the-art sound system and a rotation of DJs guaranteed to keep the energy high late into the night. Pink Taco is one of the many establishments participating in Times Square’s month-long Happiest Hour deals and promotions. From now until October 7, patrons can enjoy ongoing late-night happy hour from 9 pm to 1:30 am every Sunday through Thursday and get bites and booze starting at just $4.

  • Havana Central (151 W 46th St) – An unmistakable celebration of Cuban food, culture, and music, Havana Central offers a fanciful excursion to Cuba’s golden era, featuring flavorful food, live music, and a tropical interior decorated with potted palm trees and large vintage posters. The menu includes classic Cuban dishes like ropa vieja, sofrito empanadas, and pernil asada, as well as an assortment of drinks and colorful cocktails. Throughout the fall, the restaurant will offer live Latin music and entertainment for a fun fiesta every Friday and Sunday night. As part of the Happiest Hour deals in Times Square, guests can get a $10 Espresso Martini after 8 pm with mention of Happiest Hour until October 7.

  • Dos Caminos (1567 Broadway) – Dos Caminos brings the vibrant spirit of Mexico City to the heart of Times Square, serving South of the Border favorites as well as a vast selection of 120 premium tequilas and delicious cocktails. The two-floor restaurant features a 40-seat mezcal and margarita bar on the street level and a guacamole bar on the subterranean level. Don’t forget to take advantage of special Saturday and Sunday promotions including Weekend Brunch until 4 pm and Tequila Therapy, offering visitors a free frozen margarita when they order an entrée.
