Get Ready to Rock White Plains!

Rock the Block

Rock the Block Concert Series

Every 2nd Wednesday (May-August) 5:30PM – 8:30PM

Mamaroneck Avenue between East Post Road and Maple Ave

This Summer, outdoor dining will take on an entirely new flavor when Rock the Block plays its opening chords! A new concert series and downtown dining experience, Rock the Block will temporarily transform downtown White Plains’ Mamaroneck Avenue between Maple and E. Post Road into a veritable “Str-“eat”-ery, where this portion of the Avenue will temporarily close to cars and instead be replaced with a sea of picnic tables, a main stage with live music, and plenty of fun and adventure for all ages, through the placement of ping pong, cornhole, foosball, pop-up badminton courts and the Arts Westchester’s Arts Mobile, for younger attendees.

Occurring every second Wednesday, May-August (5:30 – 8:30 p.m.), each Rock the Block concert will permit eight local restaurants, Brazen Fox, Cantina, Freebird, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Ron Blacks and Sundance Kitchen & Cantina, to extend their dining footprint into the roadbed for a few hours, while a variety of musicians (main acts and openers) play on the City’s show mobile stage.

In homage to Cinco de Mayo, the first concert on Wednesday May 8th will kick off with live Latin sounds featuring the opening act, White Plains High School’s Mariachi Band, and the headliner, Salcedo’s Latin Soul. The White Plains High School’s Mariachi Band, also known as Mariachi Juvenil los Tigres, is the first public school mariachi band in New York State and has become a staple in the White Plains community. Salcedo’s is a powerhouse band that embodies New York City multicultural life, combining Salsa, Bomba and Timba (to name a few) with Funk, Rock, and Hip Hop. Additionally, Steven Salcedo is a Westchester-native and has performed with Miley Cyrus on her New Year’s Eve shows and at the Grammys, along with many others.

The second concert on June 12th will feature alternative country crooner, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, with the opening act of Andrew Weiss & Friends. The following concerts on July 10th and August 14th will feature Scott Tournet & the Spark, and the OTM, respectively.

“We’ve seen the success of open streets all over the country,” stated Jennifer Furioli, the Executive Director of the Downtown White Plains BID, which, in partnership with the City of White Plains and Doug Panero Presents, is coordinating the four-part concert series. This is a great after-work, lazy summer evening way to come out, dine at our wide variety of amazing local restaurants, hear good music, play some fun street games with neighbors and…did we mention entry is free?”

Mayor Tom Roach stated “I am pleased to welcome our newest event “Rock the Block” to downtown White Plains.  Mamaroneck Avenue is the thriving heart of our city and this event offers the opportunity to enjoy some great music, food and fun! See you on the Avenue!”

This will be the first Rock the Block seasonal concert series in Downtown White Plains. Its purpose being to bring the community together in a safe and fun way while also brining more foot traffic to the small businesses in the area. Sponsors of the event include: the White Plains Hospital, Argent Properties, Teremana Tequila, Cappelli Organization, SRG2Properties, LLC, Westchester County, Etain, Partyline Rentals and the Cambria Hotel, White Plains.
