Get Away, Together! Announcing Ashokan’s Family Camp Experience!

A highlight of Ashokan Center’s summer ‘camp’ offerings is a laid-back, inter-generational escape into nature, music, arts, crafts, and interactive fun & games. Leave the screens, to-do lists, and household chores behind and experience three days and four nights of instrumental workshops, guided hikes, drumming, jamming, blacksmithing, archery, storytelling, songwriting, dance, movement games, hands-on art projects, wildlife exploration, canoeing, and campfire sing-alongs. Don’t let the summertime fly by without some quality JOY time with your kids and/or grandkids.

Family Camp brings families together at the Ashokan Center in the beautiful Catskill mountains of NY: Sunday, July 31 – Thursday, Aug 4th

Ashokan Center provides a safe and supportive environment for children and adults alike to encounter nature and get in touch with their own creativity. According to past camper Jane, “The experience is filled with love, spirituality, and community. No judgment or expectations from others. People gather in giving of themselves while supporting self-growth and discovery.”

Each day there are three periods with a variety of special class and activity options geared for every age group. Choose from a variety of music, singing, crafting, and nature exploration options with a friendly and welcoming staff. A previous camper parent praised the “joyous and talented teachers. Feeling not only warmly welcomed, but also individually included interactively (from my child’s perspective as well as mine).”

Meals, with indoor and outdoor seating options, are a time to reconnect and hear about each other’s experiences. Before dinner each day, campers of all ages will gather in the open-air courtyard for a music jam and parallel art activity. Parents and adults are invited to participate – or just relax and listen with a glass of beer or wine.

After dinner, dancing and games are followed by a lively campfire sing and bedtime lullaby parade for the little ones.

Ashokan Family Camp encourages participants to interact together in new ways and in age-old activities that enhance well-being and bring people together. Ashokan welcomes newcomers, and the communities that form organically at Ashokan offer a safe and encouraging environment for every camper to try new things and make new friends. As past camper Mimi attests: “You peel the layers of friendship and learn a little bit more about people, become a little bit closer, and then meet new amazing people!”

Parents as well as librarians, teachers, and anyone who works with children will find ideas, materials, and inspiration to enrich their lives or curriculum. As one parent proclaimed, “This camp loves kids and gives them opportunities to lead.”

Camp tuition includes all meals (Sunday dinner through Thursday breakfast.) Select from free camping or one of the Ashokan Center’s comfortable on-site lodging options. To enable more families to attend this wonderful camp, we are offering flexible tuition. Please self-select from our 3-tier registration based on your ability to pay. Thank you for supporting the Ashokan Center, this camp, and each other!
