Why a proper fit matters after 50
Here is what nobody tells you. Your body keeps changing, and your bra size changes with it. Weight moves, skin and tissue change, and the bra that was perfect five years ago may not be doing you any favors now.
A good fit is not just about looking smoother under a blouse. It is about comfort. Straps that do not dig, a band that stays put, cups that actually hold you the way they should. When it is right, you stop thinking about it, and that is the whole point.
A real fitting takes the guessing out. You are not squinting at a tag or ordering three sizes online and sending two back. Someone who does this every day looks at you, listens to what is bothering you, and brings you styles that work. That is what the team at Lilies & Lace is known for. They are a small, locally owned boutique, and they offer one-on-one bra consultations.
Make it a girls' day
Grab a friend or two. Get fitted, try on something pretty, treat yourself to the Marie Jo fall pieces, and know that your purchase helps fund the Breast Cancer Alliance's work. Then walk around Armonk and have lunch. Honestly, that is my kind of Wednesday.
If you want a one-on-one fitting, call ahead at (914) 273-2253 to ask about booking a time during the event.
And a gentle reminder while we are on the topic. If you are overdue for your mammogram, October is a good month to make that call too.
