Fresh from last year’s sold-out success, The Homestead’s On the Farm dinner returns for another evening of grazing in the grass with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dining family-style in an elegantly illuminated setting. “This has become our signature Spring event”, says Allison Bamford, President of the Friends of John Jay Homestead. “From the bountiful raw bar, farm-fresh food, first class blue grass band and single, elongated table dramatically running the length of the meadow, there’s no more fitting celebration of the agrarian roots of Founding Father John Jay’s iconic Homestead.”
With delectable and stylish support from Purdy’s Farmer & the Fish, Captain Lawrence Brewing Co, La Maison Fete and Opici Family Distributing and can’t-not-dance-to tunes by Citigrass—On the Farm is a modern, casual, must-attend evening under the stars.
Ticket prices range from $175 to $500. Table prices range from $3,000 to $5,000. All levels may be purchased online at www.johnjayhomestead.org.
Founder John Jay retired to Bedford in 1801, and was actively involved in running the property as a working farm. The subsequent four generations of the Jay family continued to farm the land, growing flowers for New York City Hotels, raising poultry, pigs, sheep and cows, and growing a wide array of fruits and vegetables. The Trustees of Friends of John Jay Homestead are committed to bringing agriculture back to John Jay Homestead, already home to chickens and honeybees as well as a teaching garden in which vegetables are propagated.
