This event is co-sponsored with Katonah Village Improvement Society. Vocalist, pianist, composer Mala Waldron is the daughter and namesake of jazz pianist/composer, Mal Waldron.  Vocalist, pianist, composer Mala Waldron is the daughter and namesake of jazz pianist/composer, Mal Waldron. Mala has performed across the globe in France, Italy, Japan, China, Russia as well as in the U.S. She’s been presented in many festivals including the Port Jeff Jazz Fest (opening for Kenny Rankin), Corinaldo Jazz Fest and Catania Jazz Festivals in Italy, the Jazz XOXO Asian Tour (Hennessy-Moet), The Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival (Jazz at Lincoln Center) opening for Patrice Rushen and most recently performed with her trio at the highly acclaimed Kennedy Center. Key recordings include He’s My Father, a duo project with her father, Lullabye, a tribute to her godmother, Billie Holiday, and her first U.S. release, Always There, which was named to JazzUSA‘s “Top 20 Jazz CDs of 2006.”
