Unity Brews: A Year of Giving Back – Nonprofit Café in White Plains Marks a Milestone with $10,500 in Grants to Local Charities

Nonprofit café in White Plains celebrates impactful first year of serving the community; $10,500 in grants to local charities just announced, with a celebration planned for February 15th.

The Pamplemousse Project, a White Plains, NY café that donates all profits to charity, has just announced that it will donate $10,500 across three organizations: Friends of Karen, Cancer Support Community Greater NY and CT at Gilda’s Club, and Pediatric Cancer Foundation. This is the café’s third round of grants since opening in December 2022, bringing the amount donated to $31,500 in the first year. The Pamplemousse Project’s customers selected these three organizations by voting from a pool of twelve organizations. 100% of profits from customer visits are used to fund grants. Grant distribution takes place every quarter, with the amount determined by the café’s profits during that quarter.

Notably, the three organizations selected by The Pamplemousse Project’s customers all support individuals facing cancer, albeit in different ways:

Friends of Karen will use the funds to provide families of children with a life-threatening illness with the vital emotional and financial support they need to emerge from their health crisis stable and whole.

Cancer Support Community Greater NY and CT at Gilda’s Club will use the funds to provide support, counseling, education, and social connections for people affected by cancer.

Pediatric Cancer Foundation will use the funds to support the development and testing of novel treatment strategies for children with cancer, to eradicate children’s cancer.

A celebration of the winners will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 11 am at The Pamplemousse Project. The public is invited to attend.

The Pamplemousse Project offers ethically sourced coffee and hand-crafted drinks prepared by trained baristas, as well as a full complement of other hot and cold drinks. Pastries and baked goods from a variety of local bakeries are served fresh daily, as are light food items such as salads, burritos, and omelet bites. The Pamplemousse Project even includes a sweet shop, with a large selection of gourmet chocolate truffles and specialty chocolates and a bulk candy wall featuring more than 50 types of candy. Catering is also available for delivery.

The mission of The Pamplemousse Project is to be “Coffee for the Community.” The café serves as a focal point and resource for the community. Moreover, The Pamplemousse Project donates 100% of profits to local nonprofit organizations that serve White Plains and greater Westchester. Organizations can apply for grants on The Pamplemousse Project’s website.

In its first year of existence, The Pamplemousse Project has already made an impact:

  • By providing a space for artwork displays, musical performances, and on-the-job training for students in the White Plains school district, as well as by partnering with White Plains High School and the White Plains Youth Bureau to teach entrepreneurship, the café impacted over 100 local students.
