Join us Tuesday, October 29th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. for an opening reception and book signing to celebrate HUNT SLONEM: A MENAGERIE OF WONDERS. The exhibition is on view from October 25 – December 7, 2019. The public is invited.
A MENAGERIE OF WONDERS will debut 15 of Hunt Slonem’s newest paintings on subjects for which he is best known – bunnies, butterflies, and tropical birds. As an artist who has fashioned a distinctive, neo-expressionist style over a stellar 40-year career, Slonem continues to depict his signature motifs of repeating whimsical animal imagery applied in lavish, lush colors. Slonem’s ongoing experimentation with unconventional methodologies and materials provide the perfect conduit to express his artistic vision as an abstract painter, bordering on Pop Art aesthetics, of living things in nature.
Since 1977, Slonem has had over 250 solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries. Museums, both domestic and international, have collected his work. Among them include Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Miro Foundation, and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Hunt Slonem will be present to sign his recent publications including Gatekeeper: World of Folly (Assouline Publishing, 2018), showcasing Slonem’s interior design of the Colonel Louis Watres Armory, Birds (Glitterati Inc., 2017), and Bunnies (Glitterari Inc., 2014).
