New York, NY (April 6, 2021) – Hornblower Group, a global leader in world-class experiences and transportation, announced today the launch of City Experiences, the new brand name for the company’s water- and land-based portfolio of offerings as the company continues to double down on tourism recovery with the 2021 summer travel season fast approaching.  City Experiences aligns more than 25 existing companies into a single brand promise, with a broad range of global experiences by land and sea organized by City Cruises (private events, dining cruises and water sightseeing), City Ferry (transportation services across inland and coastal waterways) and City Experiences (land-based experiences).

During the pandemic, City Experiences has acquired four new companies and eight in total over the last few years, integrated a proprietary ticketing system to enhance the customer journey and expanded to more than 110 countries, six continents and over 125 U.S. Cities, including NYC, San Francisco, Paris, Rome, London and many more. The latest acquisition is Walks, a leading sightseeing tours and activities operator operating one-of-a-kind travel experiences in top tourism destinations around the world, as the company greatly expands its land-based presence.

Pre-pandemic, City Experiences serviced more than 35 million passenger trips. Operating under one umbrella allows the company to streamline operations for guests and see that their boat tour of London or their ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty are all operated by the same organization.

“To support our growing portfolio of world-class water and land-based offerings, we are thrilled to introduce City Experiences, including Statue City Cruises, Liberty Landing City Ferry and our land-based experiences, to the world as we continue building upon our heritage as experience providers,” said Kevin Rabbitt, chief executive officer, Hornblower Group.  “Enabled by technological investments, diversified operations and a single brand identity, we will continue to explore various opportunities and platforms to add to our portfolio of business that will contribute to the company’s projected growth and future success.”

In the tri-state area market where a fleet of over 60 vessels operate sightseeing tours, dining cruises, service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, commuter service between NY and NJ and more, the latest local Spring offerings across the City Experiences portfolio include:

  • Statue City Cruises (formerly Statue Cruises) will continue as the authorized concessioner of the National Park Service to serve the public to the Statue of Liberty National Monument & Ellis Island..

  • Liberty Landing City Ferry (formerly Liberty Landing Ferry) will continue to operate as a commuter ferry service between Brookfield Place and Liberty Landing in Jersey City, NJ.

  • City Cruises NY (formerly Hornblower Cruises & Events & Spirit Cruises) is now offering dining cruises on weekends from Lincoln Harbor and Weehawken, NJ and Chelsea Piers in NYC.  Sightseeing cruises begin Memorial Day weekend at Pier 78 and Pier 15.

  • City Experiences in NYC include the official Downtown Experience, which provides access to three iconic NYC attractions—Statue City Cruises, 9/11 Memorial & Museum and One World Observatory.

“Creating a single brand identity allows us a greater connection between our land and water experiences, focused marketing and sales efforts, increased guest recognition of our collective City Experiences offerings, and ultimately easier cross-selling of our portfolio within cities and between global destination markets,” said Kristina Heney, City Experiences chief marketing and revenue officer.  “Further, our investment in our intuitive booking platform, Anchor, and a holistic end-to-end digital experience will provide an enhanced guest experience with a new frictionless and personalized journey that will further reinforce our brand promise.”
