Farm Market and New Market Manager at John Jay Homestead

Friends of John Jay Homestead is delighted to announce the John Jay Homestead Farm Market will open for its 9th season on Saturday, May 11, 2019 with returning favorites and outstanding new vendors!
Friends is also thrilled to announce Michael Kaphan as the new Farm Market Manager. Michael has been the chef, farmer & partner at Purdy’s Farmer & the Fish since its opening in 2012. A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill’s Agricultural Business Management Program, Michael was raised in NYC and trained in some of its best kitchens until his passion for farming surpassed his love of cooking. Now enjoying the best of both worlds, Michael can usually be found on his farm or in the kitchen sharing what he grows with all. His experience, connections, and passion for food and farming will bring great value to the John Jay Homestead Farm Market.
The John Jay Homestead Farm Market is a weekly outdoor, certified market which provides the finest New York-grown, fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables, seafood, breads, specialty items and more on a historic farm setting. Every Saturday from May 11 through November 23, customers can expect to find certified organic and biodynamic produce, ethically-raised, organic meat and eggs, as well as a wide variety of artisan food items with dozens of weekly vendors.
The market also features local musical talent and non-profit organizations. While at the Homestead, patrons can also enjoy a walk, sight see, and explore flower, her, and vegetable gardens or picnic on the historic ground of John Jay Homestead.
