Cavemen, Cavewomen and Cavekids Convene in Westchester

FacebookPhoto  On Sunday, June 30th, 300 local “everyday athletes” and families will be feasting on bison chili, Asian primal pulled pork with broccoli slaw, lemon-garlic chicken skewers and hormone-free chipotle beef jerky, courtesy of Positively Primal. The food will be served as part of Battle of the Boxes 3, a countywide competition for people who engage in CrossFit training. It takes place at 9 a.m. at CrossFit 914, 12-C West Main Street in Elmsford.

“If we all ate like our caveman ancestors, we’d have more energy, more agility and live longer than the dinosaurs!” declares Rebecca Scanlon, a Chappaqua mom of two, who is the Founder and CEO of Positively Primal. Positively Primal is a new premier service that delivers Paleo (caveman diet) meals to gyms and other convenient locations in the area.
During the day’s activities at the Battle of the Boxes, participants will also have an opportunity to get their photos taken in the Positively Primal tent with a giant dinosaur at Positively Primal’s table and can enter to win a high-tech exercise monitoring device called the FitBit®. The Primal “cave” will be decorated with mini-dinosaurs, faux turf and other fun and primal touches.

The Paleo diet is also popular among CrossFit trainees and trainers. Loren Cordain, PhD, Colorado State University professor and author of The Paleo Diet, said the diet can lower cardiovascular disease risk, blood pressure, assist with weight loss and promote athletic performance, according to WebMD.

“We’re thrilled to have Rebecca and Positively Primal as our exclusive caterer at this event,” says Jim McIntyre, a coach at CrossFit 914. “Our CrossFit community is comprised of health-oriented people. And eating like people who had to live off the land, move rapidly and use their wits is consistent with the whole spirit of our competition!”

About Positively Primal
Positively Primal (www.positivelyprimal.com) is the latest collaboration between brother and sister, Chris Moran and Rebecca Scanlon. Both busy parents, their mission is to make life easier with nutritious meals that can be delivered straight to customers’ doorsteps. Everyone has goals, whether it’s to lose weight, eat healthier, or just get something nutritious on the table for the family. Chris and Becca understand how difficult it can be to plan, shop and prepare healthy meals on a regular basis. They launched a company called Your Chef Next Door to make life less stressful and healthier without sacrificing great taste. Positively Primal is just one of the many convenient food lines they carry.
