Candida May be the Reason You’re Not Losing Weight

fit-AND-FAB-AFTER-40

Apparently, we all have Candida! Candida resides in the intestinal tract and it thrives on yeast and sugar! So, if you love baked goods, crave sweets or find yourself drinking lots of wine and beer, there could be something in your gut that you are feeding.

The key to good health is to keep Candida levels under control, which I believe many of us in our over indulging society are not doing very well. Studies also reveal that those with health issues like cancer, had high levels of Candida in their body. Candida also thrives in an acidic body. The only way to control Candida is to subscribe to an alkaline diet.

No one likes to admit they are a walking science fair experiment, but it?’s true. We all have bacteria, both good and bad inside and all around us. In fact, we have over a trillion bacteria in our gut alone! The key to great health is striking the perfect balance between the good, the bad and the ugly bacteria. However, when the bad bacteria grow out of hand, it can cause health issues and in my case, inexplicable weight gain.

Top 6 Signs You May Have Candida

Both men and women can have Candida, and this lovely yeast pathogen feeds on processed and refined foods made with wheat, dairy, sugar, and preservatives like sulphites. Here are the top 6 signs you may be suffering from Candida:

  1. Feeling extremely tired or lethargic all the time
  2. Brain fog, poor memory or lack of focus
  3. Mood swings, anger, anxiety, or depression
  4. Strong cravings for carb-rich and sugary foods
  5. Skin and fungal infections like athlete?s foot, toenail fungus, vaginal infections, urinary tract infections
  6. Digestive issues such as bloating, diarrhea or constipation

One thing I learned from my own diagnosis is that I had developed food sensitivities later in life. Ironically enough, to the foods that lead most to Candida: wheat, coffee, dairy and sugary ingredients found mostly in processed and fast foods.

An elimination diet consisting mainly of real food like non-starchy veggies, protein, low-sugar fruits and limited non-glutinous grains, helped me to recover the health in my digestive tract, where Candida resides. A welcome side effect was losing 40 pounds in the process!!
