While making s’mores and lanyards will never go out of style, camps are adding on all kinds of super-useful and cool skills that will ensure your kids go back to school in the fall with more than just a friendship bracelet.
Here’s what’s trending at local day camps…
-
Fashionable Guests: FashionCampNYC has invited 13-year old designer Isabella Rose Taylor (who was just featured in Fast Company and on The Today Show after selling her line into Nordstrom). She’ll be leading two sessions, along with fashionistas from top brands like Coach, Uniqlo, and Bobbi Brown.
-
Sustainability: Camp Breezemont built its new aerial playground from recycled trees (taken from its property). Plastic and metal are just so yesterday.
-
Food Equality: Kids with gluten allergies don’t have to feel like the odd child out. Gluten-free versions of all meals are being served at Camp Breezemont. They even give all campers gluten-free cake when the birthday boy or girl has an allergy!
-
Robots playing soccer. SCORE! Destination Science introduced a World Cup themed activity this summer. The camp is back in Westchester and Long Island AND launched in Rockland County and Northern New Jersey this year.
Now if someone could only launch an adult day camp…
