Unwined Wine Bar & Kitchen Opens in Baldwin Place

A PIECE OF NEW YORK CITY IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY
Unwined Wine Bar & Kitchen — Westchester’s hottest new arrival — located in Baldwin Place, NY in the Somers Commons Shopping Plaza (in an UNexpected location!) is officially open.
Unwined Wine Bar & Kitchen is thrilled to announce that they have opened their doors to coincide with the 4th of July holiday week. This new and exciting venue is co-owned by long time local Westchester residents, Stephanie Small of Waccabuc & Brian Moss of Somers. The pair, who also opened Uncorked Wine & Spirits next door to Unwined three years ago, teamed up to create a totally unique space and dining/bar scene unlike anything else in Westchester County. The result is an extensive and varied menu, fabulous bar scene, over 30 interesting wines by the glass to choose from, and an event space for private & special events all housed in a modern and stylish space with many different seating options to suit customers mood or preferences.
“When Brian and I learned the space next door to our wine shop had a vacancy, said Small, we knew it was for us.” “We immediately discussed our shared vision of not only what the space should look like, but what the atmosphere/vibe would feel like and how we would design and make the best use of the space.”
Continued Moss, “It seemed like a natural extension of our wine & liquor shop to create an upscale wine bar, small plate ‘tasting’ menu, and a great looking space for private and special events, a night out or a place to get a drink and bite before going to dinner. We are also hoping to create some interesting programming in the space in the future.”
The menu, which will change and evolve seasonally, was designed based on the tapas concept otherwise known as American eclectic small plates which are composed and beautifully presented on small dishes that allow guests to enjoy more than one menu item or entree and to sample a variety of foods. Some signature items on the menu include Waygu beef “Pig in a blanket”, sweet & sour meatballs, buttermilk brined Southern fried chicken with corn succotash sweet onion gravy & spiced honey & black pepper syrup and seared scallops with black truffle cauliflower puree, wild mushrooms, crispy shallots, lemon & thyme brown butter. Desserts are an important part of the tasting process. Roasted pineapple parfait lemon poppy pound cake with coconut ice cream & and the house signature “Un s’mores” are some options currently on the summer menu. Add a coffee, cappuccino or espresso from BPM Roasters to round out your dining experience.
An extensive list of wine by the glass was meticulously designed to complement the menu offerings. A great deal of time and research went into selecting high quality wines from incredible producers. Wines by the glass are priced from $9 – $15 and bottles range from $30 to $49. A reserve list is in the works. Some of the signature summer cocktails include the “Un Pina Colada” — a new take on an old classic and a modern day version of a Bourbon Old Fashioned.
Unwined Wine Bar & Kitchen features a unique combination of seating options – upholstered, high-walled (and semi-private) banquettes, a 16-seat stunning curved black, white and gray marble bar which acts as the centerpiece of the space, high top communal tables, dining tables and a “bar ledge” for standing patrons to rest their drinks. Hundreds of hanging Edison bulb fixtures hang dramatically from floating wood ceiling “clouds” along with round modern glass light fixtures above the bar. Textured walls are painted a shiny silver and tables feature leather and nailhead trim along the edges. Behind the impressive bar is raw-edged wood paneling, exposed pipes in the ceiling – painted black – give the industrial looking space the perfect combination of rustic and refined design.
