ACT (A Contemporary Theater) of Connecticut is thrilled to announce that 2018 TONY Award® winner Lindsay Mendez, recent star of the Broadway revival of Carousel, will join ACT’s Resident Music Supervisor, Bryan Perri, on November 30, 2018 in the next performance of the Broadway Unplugged Series!
Lindsay Mendez is a gifted singer and actress who won the 2018 TONY, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for her performance as Carrie Pipperidge in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. Mendez also appeared on Broadway as Elphaba in the smash hit, Wicked, in the play Significant Other, and she received Drama Desk, Drama League, and OCC nominations for her portrayal of Rose Fenny in Second Stage’s World Premiere musical DogFight. Other Broadway credits include: Godspell (2011 Revival), Everyday Rapture (Roundabout) and Grease (2007 Revival). Ms. Mendez is also an accomplished jazz and blues singer, and her debut jazz album entitled “This Time” is available now on Amazon.
Perri and Mendez have worked together on and off Broadway for over ten years, in productions of Dogfight and Wicked, and frequently perform together in Mendez’ solo shows. “I’m delighted to welcome my wonderful and talented friend, Lindsay Mendez, to Ridgefield and the ACT stage to share our musical collaboration in an amazing, one-of-a-kind evening,” says Perri. This Broadway Unplugged event will allow the audience to get an inside view of their friendship and undeniable music-making chemistry.
The Broadway Unplugged Series is the brainchild of the accomplished Bryan Perri, ACT’s resident music supervisor and music director and conductor of Broadway’s Wicked. Each show in the Unplugged series presents an intimate evening where Perri sits down at the piano with amazing Broadway performers for an exceptional evening of never before heard stories, great conversation, and incredible vocals.
