The Irresistible Air Fryer!!! Cook “Roasted” or “Crispy-ish” Food in a Hurry

Air Fryer Ovens are sweeping the nation, but what is an air fryer oven? Is it really worth your hard-earned cash? If you like to cook “roasted” or “crispy-ish” food in a hurry, then YES!

What’s an air fryer oven?

This handy appliance claims to mimic the results of deep-frying with nothing more than hot air and a tiny amount of oil. It also bakes, broils, toasts and warms.

How does an air fryer oven work?

The air fryer oven is essentially an amped-up countertop convection oven. Its compact space facilitates even faster cooking. The top of the unit holds a heating mechanism and a fan. Hot air rushes down and around food placed in a fryer-style basket. This rapid circulation makes the food crisp, much like deep-frying.

PS: Cleanup is super easy, too, as most units have dishwasher-safe parts.

What can you make in it?

Air fryer ovens do a fantastic job cooking up frozen foods that are meant to taste deep-fried—think frozen French fries, chicken wings, chicken cutlets, breaded pork chops and mozzarella sticks. They also do a great job with similar recipes from scratch. You can make chicken, steak, pizza, roasted veggies, homemade baked potato fries, dumplings and pretty much anything you would normally bake or roast. And they do it in a quarter of the time!

What can’t you make?

You can’t make anything with a liquid batter (unless you freeze it first). You also can’t make anything in large quantities, so if you’re feeding a family larger than 5, be prepared to cook in batches.

At the end of the day, this is a pretty cool gadget. When you’re cooking up things like homemade French fries, chicken nuggets, or chicken cutlets, you can’t beat it. The results are much better than oven frying, and your kitchen stays cool. While it does an admirable job cooking other meats and vegetables, the air fryer really shines at mock deep-frying.

More and more air fryers keep popping up on store shelves—and for good reason. With the promise to cook up crispy and juicy foods without all that bad-for-you fat, these kitchen appliances are practically irresistible. Any food that calls for frying—like French fries or chicken cutlets—can now be made in one of these deep-fryer countertop alternatives for many fewer calories. They can also make vegetables, side dishes, desserts, and more.
