Hold Still: A Memoir with Photographs by Sally Mann with Rizzoli’s Senior Editor, Ellen Cohen.
Sally Mann is an American photographer, widely known for her large-format, black-and-white photographs—at first of her young children, then later of landscapes suggesting decay and death.
Through words and pictures, Hold Still is Sally Mann’s page-turning memoir based on her experiences growing up in the American South, including stories about family, race, mortality, and some memory of the controversies that have surrounded the question of whether her intimate portraits of her children, often nude, were exploitative. Her wonderfully vivid memoir is illustrated with family snapshots, her own and other people’s photos, documents, and letters. Please note: mature content.
