New! Kips Bay Decorator Show House Opens in Greenwich Village — 50 Years of Design Magic, Downtown Vibes

If you love great rooms and a great cause, this is your moment. The 50th Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York has officially opened its (very chic) doors at 20 W 12th Street—marking the first-ever Downtown Manhattan edition of this iconic design event. Twenty-one top designers and architects have transformed a Greenwich Village townhouse into a layered, livable fantasy you can wander through — and every ticket supports the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx.

What You’ll See (and Screenshot Immediately)

This year’s rooms are a masterclass in mood, craft, and storytelling. A few must-notes for your route:

  • Andrea Schumacher Interiors — “Pink Rhino Club”
A modern speakeasy threaded with personal history: blush accents, a rhinoceros-shaped dry bar (yes, really), and wallcovering based on the designer’s grandmother’s original art. Expect tile and stone from Artistic Tile, gleaming fixtures by Kohler, and an irresistible, wink-y glamour.

  • Ben Pentreath Studio — “The Drawing Room”
English-country coziness meets Greenwich Village fall: leafy Sanderson wallpaper inspired by Highgrove, layered antiques, Morris & Co. textiles, and the kind of room you never want to leave.

  • Corey Damen Jenkins — “Through the Looking Glass: A Dining Room Reimagined”
A neoclassical shell with a playful, reflective twist—hand-applied plaster moldings, a spectacular Baccarat Le Roi Soleil chandelier, and a mural that blossoms across the ceiling. Trad, turned on its head.

  • Christopher Peacock — “The Kitchen at Kips”
Quiet luxury for downtown living: espresso-stained oak cabinetry, hand-burnished brass, dramatic Cosentino Sensa stone, Thermador performance, and that moody, late-night jazz vibe.

  • Huniford Design Studio — “The Loft”
A nature-kissed, light-filled refuge under the skylight—cork, woven textures, and a jute rug by Marc Phillips that bring the outside in. Think: New York treehouse.

  • Jamie Drake — “A Patch of Peace” (Garden Terrace)
Emerald quartzite plinth, mirrored expanses, sculptural art, and a floating 22’ banquette. A cinematic city garden where bronze tones meet mango-and-turquoise accents.

  • Leyden Lewis — “Salon Analogue”
A deep-aubergine cocoon for big ideas and late-night conversation—tea-leaf ceilings, sculptural concrete fireplace, and a kitchenette that moonlights as a photo lab.

  • Vicente Wolf — “Reflections of the Peacock Room”
A jewel-box salon inspired by Whistler—North Sea Green lacquer, metallic sisal, and a dialogue between antiques and modern lines. It shimmers.

“This event is more than a showcase of top design talent—it’s our biggest fundraising event of the year,”
Daniel Quintero, Executive Director, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club

Stacy’s Take

I’ve adored Kips Bay in Palm Beach and New York over the years—this Downtown milestone feels fresh, intimate, and very Greenwich Village. From the Pink Rhino Club to reflective dining room glamour and that serene terrace, it’s a highlight reel of what’s next in design.

See it, save it, share it—then steal a few ideas for your own home.
