Somewhere in the last year, mahj stopped being just about the tiles. Now it is about what you win. Little ducks, flamingos, bears and ladybugs sit in a bowl in the middle of the table, and when you call mahj you pick one. It is silly, and it works. Everyone plays harder for a tiny duck.
The buzz is real. As I wrote in my mahj night post, Yelp named mahjong a 2026 trend, and the trinket tradition is everywhere. I pulled together the best ones, plus a few things to keep them in. Pick one or two. You do not need all seven. Hosting soon? My fall hostess gifts under $50 are another easy place to start.

1. The prize stash
Mahjong Trinket Mix, 20 pieces with floral pouch | Etsy | About $17-20
This is the whole idea in one bag. Twenty tiny ducks, flamingos, bears, ladybugs and a gold trophy, with a floral pouch to keep them in. Win a hand, pick a trinket. The good duck is worth fighting for.
The mix is assorted, so you will not choose which animals you get.
2. The little animals
Pastel animal charm set, 20 pieces | Amazon | $11.37
The closest thing I found to the tiny animals everyone is winning. Pigs, sheep and pups in soft pastels, small enough to tuck in a pocket or drop in a prize bowl.
These are sold as craft beads for jewelry and keychains, so they are a stand-in for the classic trinkets.
3. The keychain prizes
Kigeli 20 Acrylic Mahjong Tile Keychains with Cocktail Cards | Amazon | $13.99
Twenty little tile keychains, each in its own bag with a cocktail card. Hand one out per win and everyone leaves with something. About 70 cents each.
Styles are assorted.
4. The one everyone wants
Lucky Duckies Mahjong Trinkets, Flamingo | Hello PRFCT | $29
For the player who wins big or shows up in pink. A single pink flamingo is the kind of prize that gets passed around the table and claimed back at the next game.
5. The box for the trinkets
Personalized Name Acrylic Jewelry Box | Amazon | About $37
Where the winnings live. A clear acrylic box with a name on the lid lets you see the whole collection. A good gift for the player with the biggest haul.
It comes in four color combinations.
6. A place to park the lucky one
Ceramic Bird Mahjong Dice and Trinket Dish | Amazon | $12.99
A small bird-shaped dish for the dice and the trinket you are not about to give up. It also looks pretty on the table between hands.
Check the color you want before you order.
7. Take it with you
Mahjong Tile Acrylic Keychain Bag Charm | Oventure | $16
A clear acrylic tile for her purse or mahj bag. A great under-$20 gift for the friend who has everything except a reason to carry her mahj bag with pride.
Stock was low when I checked.
My pick: start with the little animals, then add a box to keep them in. Someone is going to ask to take the good duck home.
