As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, many of us are spending time looking for ways to celebrate with that special someone. Our pets are an integral part of the family and should be treated as such on a day we’re celebrating the love we have for our significant others, friends, and family. The special bond and love they share with us is unconditional and what better way to celebrate this holiday than to give some love back to them.

Check out these seven ways that you can show your dog some love this Valentine’s Day:

  1. Buy Them A New Toy: No matter the age, a new toy can make your pup feel like a kid on Christmas morning. The key here is to get them a toy that will keep their attention long enough to stop chewing your furniture. Some of our favorite brands are Kong and Nylabone.
  2. Make Them A Special Meal: Pups like a special occasion meal just as much as we do and there are plenty of ways to spice things up this holiday. Recipes you can make at home typically include brown rice, chicken, turkey, salmon, sweet potato, and carrots.
  3. Pick Up Some Dog Treats: There are local boutique pet bakeries all over Westchester and Fairfield county that you can stop in to grab your pup a special treat. Before purchasing be sure to check the ingredients of each treat to make sure you aren’t getting anything that will upset their stomach.
  4. Give Them A Makeover: Much like the bakeries, there are also a ton of puppy spas and groomers to choose from. Be sure to check locally for some of the best deals available across town. Pets a Go Go offers a full-service spa service on-site providing basic cleaning services to comprehensive specialty treatments to keep your puppy feeling fresh.
  5. Take Them on A Pup Playdate: Dogs are social animals and it’s always to get them to socialize as much as possible especially in their early years. This Valentine’s Day give your furry friend some extra time to socialize at a dog park or daycare. Pets a Go Go offers a drop off service for doggy daycare if you aren’t able to accompany them on their playdate.
  6. Get Some Exercise Together: Another way to show your pup some love is to provide them with a healthy activity to do with you. Whether this is playing fetch outside or going for a jog across town, your pup will thank you for the opportunity to get moving with a nice nap when they get home.
  7. Enter a Valentine’s Day Giveaway: Keep your eyes peeled for any opportunity to share your love with your furry friends on social media. There are plenty of giveaways taking place on platforms like Instagram where you have the chance to win something special for you and your pup.

On behalf of furry friends everywhere, we can promise they’ll love any of these ideas offered. Hopefully, these ideas spark some inspiration for you and your pet this Valentine’s Day. It’s one of the many ways we can show our appreciation for the unconditional love they show toward us on a daily basis.
