While Hollywood tends to obsess over who’s hot and who’s not, editors at Zimbio felt it was time to celebrate truly remarkable actresses for the real talents they bring to TV and movies.The Hit Girls is the answer if the question is: When will a team of movie and TV experts create a feature devoted entirely to the most truly gifted actresses working today?
“The Internet’s hard drive is dangerously close to reaching its storage limit of ‘hottest bikini babe’ listicles,” said John Newlin, Editor-in-Chief, Livingly Media. “The Hit Girls is our unranked and unfettered love letter to the actresses we think are simply the best at what they do.”
The only criteria to be considered is to have acted in a project in 2013. Broken out into five categories, Zimbio narrowed their who’s-who collection of actresses down to 50. The feature also includes a custom comic book-like component that’s available for free download.
The categories include:
● The Power Players — The actresses that consistently deliver; these are the ones that are so genuinely talented that they can carry an entire movie franchise, give back-to-back Oscar-worthy performances, and forge new ground in a way that looking good just comes with the package.
Included: Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Mila Kunis, more.
● The Bad-Ass Babes — The actresses in this list are easy to love, but the characters they play are not to be trifled with. In this category are the best action heroines, crime fighters, and femme fatales.
Included: Scarlett Johansson, Sandra Bullock, Vanessa Hudgens, more.
● The Geek Girls — Everyone is letting their inner geek come out a bit more lately now that these ladies have helped make the world a safer and cooler place for such female nerdery. These girls set the curve.
Included: Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman, Kristen Wiig, more.
● The Small Screen Crushes — This year saw a veritable small screen renaissance of hyper-addictive, binge-watchable shows, many of which were led by a select group of actresses that all happen to be listed here.
Included: Kerry Washington, Zooey Deschanel, Hayden Panettiere, more.
● The Rising Starlets — These are the newcomers to the A-List, the ones to watch, the rising stars, etc. Some could fit into other categories (like our small screen crush Taylor “Piper” Schilling). But make no mistake, they have arrived.
