Dog with unusual smile seeks new home

beau

Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary has recently added a bright and quirky new smile to their list of orphaned animal residents. Beau, an eight-year-old lhasa apso/poodle Mix, is charming the socks off Pets Alive staff with his cheeky grin. His unusually crooked teeth don’t hamper his appetite or his positive attitude. Executive Director Audrey Lodato says “You can’t help but feel cheerful when you see Beau. He’s happy all the time. No matter what the day brings, that smile is sure to cheer you up!”

Beau was transferred to Pets Alive from the Middletown Humane Society when his owner ended up in a nursing home and could no longer care for him. Beau isn’t loving life in the kennel and longs for a family of his own.  He is seeking a quiet home where he can enjoy being the only child. His underbite may look quirky but it poses no medical problems. Medical Director Dr. Joseph D’Abbraccio says ” Mandibular prognathism (severe underbite) might look like it should be a major concern however it is a common finding in a number of breeds. The vast majority of patients show no signs of discomfort or any lifelong concerns. They can have a very healthy and normal life.”
