Calling all Sex & The City fans!  to The Ridgefield Playhouse Stage on November 11

Sex and the City Creator and New York Icon, Candace Bushnell Brings Her New One-Woman Show “Is There Still Sex In The City?” to The Ridgefield Playhouse Stage on November 11

Calling all Sex & The City fans! The original Carrie Bradshaw, internationally bestselling novelist, and New York icon, Candace Bushnell, is bringing her one-woman show “Is There Still Sex in the City?” on the road after a successful run Off-Broadway! Twenty years after her sharp, seminal first book, Sex and the City reshaped the landscape of pop culture and dating with its fly-on-the-wall look at the mating rituals of the Manhattan elite, the trailblazing author wrote Is There Still Sex in the City? about the wilds and lows of sex and dating after fifty. It serves as the basis for this delightful one-woman show, where she invites viewers behind the scenes of her life with a wink and a cocktail, in 90 minutes “delightfully sprinkled with dishy details” (The New York Times). Celebrities like Brooke Shields, Gigi Hadid, and Real Housewife Ramona Singer all enjoyed performances during its Off-Broadway run in 2021! Plan the ultimate girls’ night out and get tickets to see it on The Ridgefield Playhouse stage on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 8pm as part of the Teed & Brown Broadway & Cabaret Series, sponsored by Whim and with support from Happy Art Chick, Cool Chick Leggings and Nutmeg Livery. Watch Bushnell as she recounts personal stories of love, relationships, and plenty of other aspects of her life, not least of all her New York Observer column that became the smash hit Sex and the City. TheatreMania called the show “A Sex and the City wonderland!” and Time Out New York praised its “yummy decor and fashion.” Head to the lobby before the show and browse Whim’s Pop-Up Shop, featuring trendy fashions for fashionistas looking for the hottest styles! Was there a real “Mr. Big”? Does she really have a shoe obsession? Hear it from the OG Carrie Bradshaw herself- Connecticut’s own Candace Bushnell! Is There Still Sex in the City? is based on her 2019 book of the same name. In her one-woman show, the internationally bestselling novelist and creator of Sex and the City take audiences on a whirlwind tour of New York City, from Studio 54 to Sex and the City to Lipstick Jungle and beyond, sharing her remarkable philosophy through stories of fashion, literature, and sex while pouring cosmos in Manolos. In early praise of the book, Popsugar wrote “Candace Bushnell is back doing what she knows best: chronicling the lives of women and how they find love. This time, she turns her lens on middle-aged men and women, and the result is pure magic. At turns wistful and sad, thoughtful and funny, Is There Still Sex in the City? is even better than the original.” This one-woman show, written by and starring Bushnell, had a successful run Off-Broadway in 2021. Now she is taking it on the road, with plans for an international tour in 2023!

Through her critically acclaimed books and television series, Bushnell’s work has influenced and defined two generations of women. From Sex and the City through ten successive novels, Bushnell has revealed a gift for tapping into the zeitgeist of any New York minute. She is the winner of the 2006 Matrix Award for books (other winners include Joan Didion and Amy Tan), and a recipient of the Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award. Sex and the City the HBO television series was nominated for 54 Emmy Awards (winning seven, including Outstanding Comedy Series), 24 Golden Globe Awards (winning eight, including Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy), 11 Screen Actors Guild Awards, 10 Directors Guild of America Awards, and more!
