After over three years of fundraising, planning, and construction, Bedford Playhouse will open the doors to its 167-seat Main Theater, the largest of its three theaters, on Memorial Day Weekend, 2018.
The box office will be open and the Playhouse will screen two films for the public that weekend: Singin’ in the Rain and ET. Guests will be among the very first to experience the theater’s state-of-the-art technology and colossal screen — the biggest in Westchester County.
The Playhouse will offer limited programming on select weekends throughout the summer as operations ramp up towards the Fall Grand Opening. Over this period, the Playhouse will hire and train new staff and give the public a taste of the varied cultural programming it will offer once fully open.
Programming of new films going forward will combine mainstream and independent releases, and also integrate family and classic programming.
The first-run schedule begins with two Disney films: “The Incredibles 2 “(premiering June
15th) followed by Ant Man and The Wasp (premiering July 6th), starring Bedford’s very
own Michael Douglas.
A film evening with Will Reeve and an author event with Kerry Kennedy are also planned for early June. Details for these and other offerings may be found on our website: bedfordplayhouse.org.
Playhouse Founder, John Farr said, “We are enormously excited to be opening the doors to our state-of-the-art main theater during summer weekends. Our public has been so
patient; now comes the reward! For us, it will also be a valuable period to test, learn, and get the buzz going about what an incredible space we’ve created.”
CoŶstruĐtioŶ of the Đafé aŶd reŵaiŶiŶg tǁo theaters, iŶĐludiŶg ͞The Cliǀe͟, named after legendary music producer Clive Davis, will continue throughout the summer and culminate with red carpet events and festivities celebrating the full opening on September 8th.
The Clive Davis Art Center, estaďlished iŶ reĐogŶitioŶ of Mr. Daǀis’s instrumental support of the Playhouse, will encompass all the arts programming offered beyond film, including music performances, theater, art exhibits, and more.
