I wear a lot of black on top, so the pants get to do the talking. Lately I have been looking at two wide-leg pairs that make a simple tank feel like an outfit: a camo pair with a curved tulip hem and an olive corduroy pair with a baggy, barrel shape.
A quick note on the photos. I do not own either pair. The pictures below are AI try-ons of me in each one, so you can see the shape before you click. The real pants may fall a little differently.
Shop the Post: Camo tulip-hem wide-leg pants | Corduroy barrel pants
1. The camo pair with the curved hem
Camo is a neutral if you let it be one. The elastic waist makes it easy, the wide leg is comfortable, and the little curved slit at the hem keeps it from looking like cargo pants. I would wear it with a black knit and a flat I can walk in.
The link opens the Grey Camo color. Amazon also lists Camo, Khaki Camo and Pink Camo on the same pair, so choose your shade from the color menu. For a greener look, try the plain Camo option.
Sizing note: this brand runs on its own chart. Their Medium is a US 8-10 and their Large is a 12-14, so look at the chart before you pick your usual size.
2. The corduroy pair with the barrel leg
Corduroy is the easiest way I know to make fall feel like fall. This pair is mid-rise with an elastic waist and a baggy, boyfriend shape that curves in at the ankle. It looks relaxed without looking sloppy, especially with a fitted top.
Here is the honest part. The olive in my try-on is the color I would want, but I could not find an olive pair on Amazon. This style comes in blue, brown and cream there, and the link opens the blue. Brown is the closest in feel for fall. If you spot a true olive somewhere, tell me.
The sizing is the same as the camo pair: Medium is a US 8-10 and Large is a 12-14.
How I would wear them
Keep the top simple and let the pants be the point. A black tank or fitted knit, a long gold necklace, a stack of bangles and a flat is all it takes. Add a cardigan or a jacket when the weather turns.
