KATONAH ART STROLL POETICALLY EXPANDS!

 

Since its inception in April 2018, the Katonah Art Stroll continues to expand in new and uplifting ways with greater outreach and inclusion of more art forms.  This month  the offerings include an open mic poetry venue, more art openings, a free tour at the Katonah Art Museum and free live music throughout this idyllic town.

At 4 pm sharp, start at the KMA with a docent-led tour of the Museum’s new exhibitions, Sparkling Amazons: Abstract Expressionist Women of the 9th St. Show and Rotem Reshef: Arcadia. Sparkling Amazons presents the pioneering contribution by women artists to the Abstract Expressionist movement and the significant role they played as bold innovators within the New York School during the 1940s and 50s. Don’t miss the first time their works are being brought together in 68 years. Arcadia, a solo exhibition by Israeli artist Rotem Reshef, shows her distinctive imprinting technique using organic materials, some from the KMA grounds, to paint monumental rolls of unstretched canvas that are suspended from the walls. Old New House, located at 33 Katonah Avenue, will be featuring new etheral weavings by Brooklyn artist Lea Thomas, as well as a collection of antique 19th century miniature watercolor paintings, black and white photography by Purchase artist Dennis Dilmaghani, and oil paintings by Chappaqua artist Grace Keogh. Refreshments will be served.

Forward Contemporary Gallery, the most recent addition of world class galleries in Katonah, at 43 Katonah Avenue will exhibit new works from Jeffrey Terreson’s deep fluid textural style all done in oil paints.  His work in represented in many prominent collections and has been exhibited in numerous museums across the country.  Refreshments served.

Weschester’s best new art gallery CB Gallery at 23 Valley Rd., is pleased to present local artist Carol Bouyoucos’ show “Wild in Nature” from October 16 to November 2.  “Wild in Nature” further explores Bouyoucos’ passion for flora and fauna through her digital process of re configuring images from nature into fantastical patterns of color and light.   Bedfords School of Rock’s House Band performs live!  Refreshments served.

Phat Olive, 87 Katonah Ave. will be offering free truffle popcorn along with a fruited hydration station with local peppermint ?

Majestic Hudson at 223 Katonah Ave will be showcasing the work of Laura Trisiano, a mixed media, found object and assemblage artist, creating sculptural wall art and freestanding sculpture inspired by nature, architecture, and the Yogic Arts.

In the Courtyard, Professional singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and guitarist Mike Flynn will entertain with his engaging renditions of classic hits from many music genres.

4 Artists – 4 Visions

Oak&Oil Gallery, 89 Katonah Ave. is celebrating the month of October by showcasing the art of four women who are highly accomplished artists from our area and well known for their quality work: Linda Puiatti, Jane Cooper, Julie Testwuide and Ellen Hopkins Fountain. They have pursued their artistic journey, while raising their families and holding full or part time jobs. The show has a broad appeal with  representational and contemporary subjects.  Please join us on Saturday the 19th to meet four great artists and discover their creative expression through printmaking, photography, oil painting and watercolors. Live Music will accompany the event. An Indie and Alternative duo will perform starting at 5:30 with Musician/song writer Omar Ramirez, and singer/song writer Kimmy Naus. This emerging young duo performs locally and NYC’s many  venues.

Offerings Gallery, 59 Katonah Ave – Westchester’s oldest non-traditional gallery will be exhibiting a broad selection of art and mediums by four artists: Hudson River Painter Catherine Minnery, found object sculptures by Rina Yeshoua, powerful acrylic and spray paint art by Lance Johnson, and oil paintings from the series ‘Faces of God’ by Mindy Yanish. Meet the artists while listening to the creative and uplifting live jazz by Rebecca Angel, vocalist and guitarist Jonah Prendergast. Refreshments.

Eclectic Collector, 215 Katonah Ave will be showcasing a broad selection of hand made shibori silk scarves, leggings, ties and dresses by Carter Smith, woven scarves by Muffy Young and Pam Whitlock, felted scarves by Sherri O, silk scarves by local artist Evie and cotton & silk scarves by Annie Turbine.  Refreshments.
