| Thousands of local breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community members are uniting to make the greatest impact to save lives and ensure no one faces breast cancer alone at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k walk. This noncompetitive, inspirational event raises awareness and funds for a world without breast cancer. 2018 marks the 25th year of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Westchester, the 4th largest Making Strides event in the United States.

Last year, over 21,000 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participants raised over $1.2M in Westchester for the American Cancer Society to invest in groundbreaking research; provide free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by breast cancer; and help people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.
This year Avon joins us as the first ever National Presenting Sponsor for American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events. Avon is known for empowering women and being a passionate supporter of women’s health, especially breast cancer prevention and treatment. In fact, Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women have donated more than $800 million to breast cancer causes, educated 180 million women about this disease, and funded breast health screenings for nearly 20 million women. United, we WILL do more.
In 2018, more than 266,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,920 will die from the disease this year. About 2,550 men are also expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year with 480 deaths.
Since 1993, more than 14 million supporters have raised more than $870 million to help end breast cancer. Today, walks are held more than 200 communities nationwide.
