INVITE: Opening Reception for “Reverie Realms” by Artist Peter Fulop Inbox

Standard Space gallery invites you to the opening of “Reverie Realms” – a new solo exhibition by Hungarian multidisciplinary artist Peter Fulop.

 

WHEN: Saturday, July 12th from 4:30-6:30pm followed by a musical performance by Skull Tower 4E

Peter Fulop is an artist, working in sculpture, installation, painting, and sound. He was a student of Professor Ryoji Koie whom Fulop studied and lived with in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. His practice was closely associated with the Gutai group, the Japanese avant-garde, and heavily influenced by the Sodeisha movement, in Kyoto. Fulop moved from Hungary to Ireland in 2001, and from subsequently undertook several residencies in China, Japan, and Korea and became the resident ceramic artist at a Zen Buddhist Monastery in Korea.


His current body of work is based on the observation of the self in relation to the surrounding natural, social and emotional elements and reflects contemplation on the fluidity of personal perception. Through gestural actions, he attempts to mold and arrange the mediums of clay, wood, paper and metal, to manifest ideas liberated from particular perceptions and to describe the feeling of knowing or understanding something without obvious, rational thoughts and conclusions.

 

Peter was awarded a Windgate Scholarship from the  Archie Bray Ceramic Foundation, MT, USA (2013) His work is held in numerous public collections around the world, including, Ulster Museum, Belfast, NI, the National Museum of IrelandFuLe International Ceramic Art Museums, China,  Mungyeong Ceramic Museum, Korea, Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Shigaraki, Japan and many others.
