How To Have A Self-Care Evening At Home

Life’s busy and whether you are working full time, looking after the kids, or juggling a bit of everything, it can be near impossible to find time for yourself. Yet if you don’t give yourself some TLC you can find yourself suffering from burnout and feeling generally overtired and not as happy as you should be. Taking time for yourself is important for maintaining your feeling of self-worth and just letting yourself relax. Try and put aside some time just for you. Ship your kids off to a babysitter or ask your partner to watch them for a couple of hours without you being interrupted. Book a random day off work just for pampering, or find an evening and dedicate it to your wellbeing. Here we have put together some top tips for having a self-care evening at home.

Have a pampering bath

There’s not often much time for a proper bath and instead, it’s a quick “jump in jump out” scenario or a brisk shower in the morning or evening. When it comes to self-care, there’s nothing quite like a pampering bath to make you feel relaxed. Get out the candles and bubble bath, pour a glass of something, and indulge in your favorite beauty products. Wash your hair with some great quality sulfate free shampoos, use your best body lotion, and just feel your worries melt away.

Buy your favorite food and drink

Food and drink can make you feel good, so when you are having a self-care evening, go shopping and choose whatever you might fancy indulging in. It could be that you want a ready meal when you normally eat healthily, or you could just want chocolate and a glass of prosecco. No matter what it is, choose foods that make you happy and don’t give a thought to calories or anything else. Tucking into this while doing some journaling, watching a movie, or even when you have your bath can feel like a real treat!

Watch a feel-good movie or read a book

If you’re used to having to battle for the TV remote with your other family members, make the most of your self-care evening and watch something you love. It could be your favorite rom-com or a new series that’s come out, whatever it is, make sure it’s something you enjoy. You could also take your free time to read a book, write in your journal or do some artwork. There are so many choices, it’s just important to focus on something that will make you happy!

These are just a few activities you can do that can provide you with a great self-care evening at home. It doesn’t need you to take the whole day off or spend a lot of money to be relaxed. Sometimes you just need a few hours to refresh your mind and feel like yourself again. Have you recently given yourself some time for a pamper? If so, what did you do on your self-care evening?
