Billy Crystal returns to Broadway
in his very first musical comedy!
National comedy treasure Billy Crystal reprises his role as a washed-up septuagenarian comic named Buddy Young in this musical adaption of his 1992 film.
MR. SATURDAY NIGHT is the story of Buddy Young, Jr., an outrageous and outspoken comedian who found fame, if not fortune, in the early days of television. Now, some 40 years after his TV career flamed out, Buddy seeks one more shot at the spotlight, and while he’s at it, one last shot at fixing the family he fractured along the way.
Written by BILLY CRYSTAL, LOWELL GANZ & BABALOO MANDEL, based on an original concept by Billy Crystal, MR. SATURDAY NIGHT features music by three-time Tony winner JASON ROBERT BROWN, lyrics by Tony Award® nominee AMANDA GREEN, choreography by ELLENORE SCOTT (Funny Girl) and direction by Tony Award winner JOHN RANDO. This brand-new musical comedy about one comedian’s meteoric rise to the middle arrives on Broadway this spring.
Adapted by Crystal and his original screenwriting partners, the show includes a full original score and David Pahymer is back to recreate his oscar-nominated turn as Buddy’s Brother.
