SHARING LESSONS OF THE HOLOCAUST THROUGH THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN A YOUNG BOY AND HIS GREAT-GRANDFATHER
A Community Screening, Q&A and Panel Discussion
This 20-minute film interweaves haunting historical footage and hand-painted animation to tell a harrowing story of Jewish life in Eastern Europe while sharing memories and lessons from the Holocaust with a new generation. It will be followed by an audience Q&A with panelists including: 10-yr old Elliott Saiontz, local resident and the film’s young narrator, Stacey Saiontz, Elliott’s mother and Holocaust education advocate, Amy Schatz, Award-winning Director/Producer and Jeff Scher.
The Bedford Playhouse is continuing a series of programs designed to introduce the public to the various events and programming that will be presented when their state-of-the-art film, café, arts and events facility opens later this year. The Playhouse͛s pre-programming includes film screenings, an author series and other cultural happenings for the community.

͞THE NUMBER ON GREAT-GRANDPA’S ARM͟
The Number on Great-GraŶdpa’s Arŵ is the centerpiece for a new installation at the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, which includes the film, its animation art, and companion segments produced by HBO featuring survivors in conversation with young people.
Award-winning director and producer Amy Schatz͛s notable HBO projects include the recent Saving My Tomorrow series, plus An Apology to Elephants, the Classical Baby series, A Child’s Garden of Poetry, ͚Twas the Night, Goodnight Moon and Other Sleepytime Tales and Through a Child’s Eyes: Septeŵber ϭϭ, ϮϬϬϭ.
Acclaimed artist and animator Jeff Scher͛s work is found it the permanent collections’ of the Museum of
Modern Art, Academy Film Archive, Harvard Film Archives and the Pompidou Centre.
