Apple Cinemas set to bring movies back to Downtown White Plains.
Apple Cinemas, a northeastern movie theater chain with locations in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Maine and Connecticut, is set to open a new state-of-the-art movie theater complex in the former Showcase Cinema de Lux location at the White Plains City Center (237 Martine Avenue) this month.
Opening Day will be on May 16th pending permit approvals, following a pre-launch invite-only ribbon cutting event on Tuesday the May 14th.
Visitors to the complex will be greeted by new renovated lobby, comfortable reclining seats, self-serve popcorn machines, and a (soon-to-open) on-site restaurant, BurgerFi, which offers a variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches, burger and chicken bowls and more. The theater will contain approximately 1400 seats and both an IMAX (planned for end of May) and Apple Cinemas Premium Large Format ACX screen featuring 4K LASER and Dolby ATMOS 360-degree immersive sound to a perfect Apple Cinematic Experience.
Apple Cinemas has partnered with IMAX to launch IMAX with Laser – a groundbreaking, next-generation laser projection and 12-channel sound system at White Plains City Center location. IMAX with Laser has been designed from the ground-up exclusively for IMAX screens. The experience is set apart by its next generation 4K laser projection system that delivers increased resolution, sharper and brighter images. This new experience also features IMAX’s 12-channel sound technology for the ultimate in audio immersion.
The theater is the second Apple Cinemas location to open in New York State after Pittsford and joins eleven existing theaters in the northeast region, along with several more in development.
