There are some summer evenings that just feel special.
I recently spent one of them at The Farm at Cabbage Hill in Mount Kisco, surrounded by fields, farm animals, vegetables growing just steps away, a gorgeous outdoor table and, most importantly, really good food.
But here’s the part I didn’t know before I went:
You don’t actually have to go to the farm to eat this way.
Cabbage Hill offers Provisions Farm Dinners—fresh, chef-prepared meals delivered right to your door.
And after seeing where the food comes from and tasting it myself, I went home thinking: Why aren’t we all doing this on a Tuesday night?
First, Let’s Talk About the Farm
Cabbage Hill is one of those places that makes you forget you’re in Westchester for a minute.
We walked around the property, saw the animals, checked out what was growing and then gathered around a long table outside for dinner.
This isn’t “farm-to-table” as a marketing phrase.
You’re literally at the farm.

Then Came Dinner
This was my kind of dinner party.
A long table outside. Wine. Flowers. People talking. Plates being passed around.
And food that didn’t need a lot of explaining because the ingredients were doing most of the work.

We ate family-style, which somehow makes everything taste better.
There was chicken with fresh basil, creamy polenta topped with mushrooms, and plenty of dishes meant to be passed, shared and sampled.

But Here’s What Really Got My Attention: They Deliver
This is the part I think my Westchester readers need to know.
The Farm at Cabbage Hill offers Provisions Farm Dinners, freshly prepared meals that are delivered locally and designed to be heated in about 10 minutes.
No grocery shopping.
No chopping.
No measuring.
No recipe cards.
And this isn’t frozen food masquerading as dinner.
It’s fresh food prepared by Chef Eric using ingredients from Cabbage Hill and trusted local farms.

It’s Not Takeout. And It’s Not a Meal Kit.
This may be my favorite part.
You aren’t waiting an hour for delivery only to open a container of soggy takeout.
And you aren’t receiving a box filled with ingredients and a recipe card that basically says, Congratulations, you’re still cooking dinner.
The meal has already been prepared.
You heat it. You eat it. You’re done.
Even better, local delivery is included with Provisions orders.
The service is available Tuesday through Thursday, making it particularly appealing for those middle-of-the-week nights when nobody wants to figure out what’s for dinner.
Dinner for Two—or the Family
The Provisions meals are offered in two sizes:
The Pair
Generous portions for two adults.
The Family Table
Designed to feed two adults and two to three children.
And as Cabbage Hill rather brilliantly points out, just because the kids want chicken fingers again doesn’t mean you have to eat them too.
Amen to that.
Seeing Where Your Dinner Comes From Changes Things
There’s something different about eating a meal after you’ve walked around the farm.
You see the vegetables growing.
You see the animals.
You meet the people.
And suddenly “locally sourced” isn’t just something printed at the bottom of a menu.
It’s right in front of you.

The Best Meals Are the Ones We Share
That’s what I kept thinking as we sat around that long table.
Of course, not every Tuesday night is going to involve a beautiful table in the middle of a Westchester farm.
But if someone wants to bring the farm dinner to my front door?
I’m listening.
If you’re looking for an alternative to takeout, meal kits or the eternal “What are we having for dinner?” conversation, Cabbage Hill’s Provisions Farm Dinners are definitely worth knowing about.
And after spending an evening seeing—and tasting—where it all begins, I can tell you:
This is one local delivery service I’m very happy to have discovered.
