Secret Garden “Open Days” Are Back in Westchester — And This Might Be the Most Magical Summer Activity Yet

m

If you love discovering places that feel like hidden worlds, this is your sign to start planning your weekends.

One of my favorite summer discoveries is back: Secret Garden Open Days from The Garden Conservancy — where private gardens that are normally closed to the public open their gates for one unforgettable day.

We are talking dreamy flower paths, tucked-away gardens, stunning landscapes, peaceful ponds, and the kind of homes you usually only see in magazines. Some are whimsical, some are grand, and all of them feel like stepping into another universe.

And yes… several are right here in Westchester.

Westchester Open Days Schedule

June 6

  • Brae Willows — Bedford, NY
  • The Meadows Farm — Katonah, NY
  • Steepway Farm — Katonah, NY

June 28

  • Perrin Garden — North Salem, NY
  • Michael A Katz Garden — Katonah, NY
  • Keeler Hill Farm — North Salem, NY
  • The Hen & The Hive — North Salem, NY

July 18

  • Garden of Bernard Marquez and Tim Fish — South Salem, NY

July 28

  • Rivermere on Hudson — Croton-on-Hudson, NY

And there are many more gardens throughout the season.

Why I Love This So Much

There is something incredibly special about seeing how people create beauty in their own private spaces. These gardens are inspiring, calming, creative, and honestly perfect if you are looking for:

  • A peaceful day outdoors
  • A unique date idea
  • Content opportunities for Instagram
  • Gardening inspiration
  • A reason to explore Westchester in a completely different way

It feels a little like being let in on a local secret.

How It Works

You reserve access through GardenConservancy.org.

Tickets are typically:

  • $10 per garden
  • Free for Garden Conservancy members and children under 12 at most locations

Many gardens happen on the same day, so you can easily turn this into a full-day adventure.

Stacy’s Take

I cannot emphasize enough how much I LOVE Open Days. If you are always looking for unusual experiences, hidden gems, or beautiful escapes close to home, put this on your summer list immediately.

This is the kind of thing that makes you fall in love with Westchester all over again.
