Her love for the city goes beyond its iconic skyline—she’s on a mission to make the world feel the heartbeat of New York, capturing its unmatched vitality through her latest project, *Pulse of New York*.
“I love NYC and its people. This city is a living canvas, a masterpiece of energy painted across every corner, truly one of a kind,” Cherie shares with pride.
Through her *Pulse of New York* project, Cherie is creating a unique abstract 5×5 painting for each of the city’s five boroughs, starting with Manhattan. But this isn’t just any painting—it’s a collaborative art experience that brings New Yorkers into the creative process.
Cherie takes a blank canvas and places it directly on the streets, allowing passersby to walk on it, leaving behind footprints and markings. These impressions embody the collective energy of the city, creating a powerful, evolving work of art. “The excitement has been incredible,” she says. “People line up, eager to leave their mark and contribute to this shared expression of New York’s energy.”
Each borough’s canvas will encapsulate the distinctive character and dynamism of its people. For example, the Manhattan canvas has captured the energy of Wall Street, with traces of the hustle and bustle woven into the artwork.
Once the street art is complete, Cherie will bring each canvas back to her studio or the Pelham Art Center in Westchester, where the raw urban expressions will be sealed into a finished 5×5 painting—one for each borough. The result? A powerful visual representation of New York’s heartbeat, diversity, and spirit. These pieces are truly one-of-a-kind, infused with the unique energy that only New York City and its people can deliver.
