How to Make a Clambake

No dinner says summer quite like a clambake,   It is easy to ;put one together at home or take to the beach.

A 5-gallon pot will feed 4 people.

Get yourself a metal pot that’s not too thick.

  • Layer 1 lb of red  or white potatoes, cut into 1 inch chunks on the bottom of the pot.
  • Add  4 -1 1/2 lb lobsters to the pot
  • Next add 4 peeled ears of sweet corn -save the husks
  • Add a layer of 1lb of steamers, 1lb of shrimp with the shells on , a dozen little neck clams, and a lb of mussels.
  • Add a 1/2 lb of butter cut into chunks.
  • Next add your herbs, parley basil and a little olive oil blended together.
  • Pour a quart of water, beer or wine over the top 
  • Cook  for 45 minutes to an hour
  • Using a slotted spoon and tongs, transfer clambake to a very large platter or a table covered with newspaper
