Raised in Westchester, New York, graduates of John Jay High School are now operating out of New York City, Sara and Brendan combined 15 years of friendship and their passion for doing great things to create the one and only complete baking mix! Countless hours in the kitchen have allowed then  to bring you a delicious, gluten-free and vegan cookie from the cleanest ingredients around.

Are you both from Westchester? I have to ask what is your relationship status?

Yes – we both grew up in Katonah and went to high school together.  We’re just friends. 

Why do you eat gluten free?

I feel better when I’m eating gluten free; I find that I have more energy. When I eat gluten I feel more tired and sluggish. 

When I was trying to bake gluten free recipes for myself; I found that I had to visit up to 4 different stores to find specialty ingredients and often the cost would upwards of $75 by the time I bought everything which is what inspired us to launch Meadow Lane; we’ve sourced all natural, non-gmo ingredients for you, put everything together in a single container that literally doesn’t require the addition of anything. Most other baking mixes require that you add eggs or milk or oil – ours has everything you need in the tube.  

 

Where do you go for a gluten free meal?   What do you order?

I love the fish tacos and Farmer & the Fish (without the taco) and the gulf shrimp salad at Inn at Pound Ridge.

Your instagram is yummy!  Do you bake it all yourself?   If so which ones?  Can you share one recipe?

A lot of our instagram is from other bloggers that we find inspiring. We’re constantly doing recipe testing to expand our line.  We do do the baking for recipe testing ourselves – but our product is manufactured in Toronto. 

 

Besides cookies do you have other products? Any in the works?

Right now we’re just expanding to other cookie flavors.  We’re currently working on an oatmeal breakfast cookie.
