They took Fancy, Iggy Azalea’s “song of the summer,” capitalized on the pop cultural “selfie craze,” busted out a few dance moves to the musical stylings of Pants Velour and lip synched their way through the a lyrical genius to turn out Socialfly’s very first single and music video: #DoTheSelfie.
It’s been a whirlwind collaboration that started with an idea and transformed into a video that will make you laugh, but don’t take my word for it…watch for yourself!
SOCIALFLY®, a leading full service social media PR agency, has teamed up with Tommy Boy Entertainment artist Pants Velour to release their music video titled #DoTheSelfie. A parody of Iggy Azalea’s smash hit Fancy, #DoTheSelfie pokes fun at the social media phenomenon that is the “selfie.”
The video, shot entirely in the SOCIALFLY® offices, features the costume-clad Socialfly team switching up their business attire (and attitude) and getting wild as they “do the selfie” with Pants Velour emcees Josh Raff (Raffsputin) and Eli Northrup. The group’s lead vocalist, Niki Darling, provided vocals for the track. Pants Velour, who has recently opened for #1 Chart-topper Magic!, has been dubbed “New York hip-hop/rock fusioneers” by TimeOut New York and was described as a “unique brand of hip-hop, R&B and pop” by USA Today.
Drawing from their experience creating original and exciting content for the social media campaigns they develop and manage, SOCIALFLY® was inspired to write a song highlighting the selfie craze currently dominating pop culture. Lyrics include:
