It was 2011 Dinner With The J-E-T-S to Benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation

I started my blog in 2008, back when “What’s a blog?” was practically a reflex. Looking back, it’s wild to think how far blogging—and my own blog—has come. One of my early highlights was back in 2011, when I had the chance to join the legendary Nightfly (from Westchester Magazine), Kris Ruby, as her photographer for an unforgettable event: Dinner With the JETS, benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, held at the beautiful Moderne Barn in Armonk, NY. Growing up in Bayside, NY, being a Jets fan was basically a rite of passage, so naturally, I was thrilled.

The atmosphere in Moderne Barn, which I still think is one of the prettiest spots in Westchester, was absolutely buzzing. Every seat was filled, with families and young fans sporting their Jets jerseys, and even the grown men were as excited as kids in a candy store.  Calvin Pace, Jerricho CotcheryDustin KellerLaDainian TomlinsonBrodney PoolBraylon Edwards, Tony Richardson, Bart Scott, John Conner, and Eric Smith and were a big hit along with  James Ihedigbo They were only some of the highlights of the night.   During the Q&A Ihedigbo was asked ” Who was your irispiration as a child?”

. His answer? “My mother.” Cue the heartfelt “Awwww.”

It was a unique experience to see these gentle giants off the field, reminding everyone that behind the tough plays are big hearts. According to The Nightfly in Westchester Magazine, the event raised over $15,000, enough to grant wishes for two children. The evening benefitted both HOPE Africa and Make-A-Wish Foundation, and it stands out as one of the most memorable Westchester events I’ve attended.
