Grand Prix New York (GPNY), the area’s leading indoor entertainment and team-building venue, is again collecting toys for needy children through the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Program. Now through December 20th, they are asking the community to bring a new, unwrapped toy to their location at 333 North Bedford Road in Mt. Kisco, NY.
Last year, GPNY collected more than 200 new toys. In an effort to make an even greater impact this year, GPNY is offering a complimentary race for anyone who donates one or more toys totaling at least $20.
Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks and a group of U.S. Marine Reservists collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
“Toys for Tots is a great way to provide a little holiday cheer to local children who might otherwise go without,” said Nat Mundy, Vice President/Director of Marketing at GPNY. “I hope that we will once again see our generous patrons and staff support this wonderful program.”
Toys for Tots campaigns are conducted each year throughout the nation during the months of October, November, and December. As of 2009, the Toys for Tots Program and Foundation had collected and distributed almost 500 million toys.
