Tunes in June Lineup
June 2: Carlitos Padron and Rumberos del Callejon
Very hot Salsa from this huge band that has a residency at Drom, NYC’s premiere world music venue. Irresistible magnificence on every instrument. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8E5jDr7ls4
June 9: Carsie Blanton
Fragile, lush, cheerful, witty, jazzy, heartbreaking and soul-lifting. Quite a range for this singer-songwriter. Most of all though, she is one fabulous singer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a3TNV5ApMs
June 16: Jonah Smith
America’s Got Talent semifinalist. Bringing to mind Van Morrison and Steve Winwood, he’s a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who penned a song on Bonnie Raitt’s most recent release. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmlngU59unU
June 23: Couch
Catchy hooks, powerhouse vocals and something both startlingly fresh but grounded in old school soul/pop/R&B distinguishes this can’t-miss band that emerged from the cluster of emerging internet musicians jockeying for attention. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFtTWfuAdAY
June 30: Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists
Headlining swing band at Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City and winner of the Count Basie Great American Swing Contest. “Smile inducing” -Downbeat. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPkkEuriVj4
