FAKES, FORGERIES AND OTHER DECEPTIONS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Can you tell what’s real and what’s not?
Samuel Sachs II, President, The Pollock-Krasner Foundation and one of the most pre-eminent former museum directors in America, will lecture on the history of forgeries and present a test at the end to see who can tell a fake from the real thing.
Samuel Sachs II, a native New Yorker, is considered to be one of the half dozen outstanding professional Museum Directors in America. He was Director of The Frick Collection in New York City from 1997 to 2003 and the former Director of both The Minneapolis Institute of Arts (1973-85) and The Detroit Institute of Arts (1985-97). In both of these institutions he considerably extended their impact on their communities and significantly enriched their collections by gifts and purchase.
He is currently President of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Recognized nationally and internationally, he has twice been decorated by foreign monarchs (Sweden and Denmark) for his outstanding contributions to culture.
