Christopher Brescia, owner of CB Gallery in downtown Katonah, NY is pleased to announce his next curatorial project at the Bedford Playhouse. A collection of paintings by local artist Alissa Leigh entitled Awakening Joy with an opening reception on July 29, 2021, and running through September 6, 2021.
Alissa Leigh is a self-taught abstract artist living in Bedford, New York. Her artistic journey began when she was young, influenced greatly by her mother who was an artist and entrepreneur. Growing up in South Salem, NY, Alissa developed a love for gardening and photography. Those creative outlets have evolved into a passion for painting. She loves experimenting with bright colorways, seeing how they affect each other. Each painting she creates is made in hopes that it will inspire someone, cheer up a room, and bring joy to the person who owns it. Using mainly acrylic paints, she also experiments with oil paints and wax encaustics to create her abstract designs. Her style and design concepts are constantly evolving as she learns new techniques and discovers new inspirations.
“I’ve been eyeing Alissa’s work for a while now and loved watching the growth,” says CB Gallery Owner/Director Christopher Brescia, “And it’s so great to have someone who grew up going to the Bedford Playhouse have her first solo show there,” adding, “I think her work will spark great joy in everyone who views them.” “I am also pleased to announce, for this show, 100% of CB Gallery’s proceeds will be donated to the Playhouse.” “I adore the movies and found the Playhouse so welcoming when I moved here full time,” Brescia explains, “I’m very happy they’re back open and thrilled to contribute any way I can.”
