Tell everyone you know in New Jersey that this is the place to get your blow outs.
There is a new upscale hair salon in Livingston — but women cannot get their hair cut there.
Instead, they can walk in, seven days a week, and receive a sophisticated blow out in 30 minutes for $35, while enjoying complimentary beverages and signature snacks, such as hand-painted, purple frosted Oreos and purple iced mini cupcakes baked and decorated daily by salon partner Debbi Fine
The first of its kind in Northern New Jersey, Blo Lounge, located at 2 W. Northfield Rd, is a blow dry-only salon. It specializes in providing women with the latest up dos, down dos, special evening dos, straight dos, curly looks and braids that are expected to last for at least three days or more (due to the use of exclusive finishing techniques and products).
It is the brainchild of Fine, who opened it three months ago with partners, Andrea Schuller-Fine and Marika Figueiredo, a hair stylist, who works at the salon.
Fine, who was a Bar/Bat Mitzvah and Wedding party planner for nearly two decades, simply changed her focus from creating seamless events to ensuring that the guests of honors’ coifs look their very best.
“The concept for Blo Lounge came from visiting my daughter in LA and loving the Blo Dry Bars out there,” said Fine.
“I thought, we can make this work in NJ,” she added. “After all, who doesn’t love a professional blow out, especially when people tell you how great your hair looks,” asked Fine?
Word is starting to get out about this trendy salon, which has just serviced its 1000th customer, after only being open for three months. Women are coming there from all over the state.
“Our goal is to provide affordable luxury that will make any women feel hotter, taller and more glamorous, for only $35, which is something every woman should be able to afford,” said Fine.
The signature pampering program consists of a shampoo, conditioning, blow out and use of a flat iron. For an additional $15, guests can have a super conditioning treatment or a braid at the Braid Bar. Prices are not contingent upon hair length—they are always the same.
The fully-certified hair stylists have gone through extensive training and learned specialized long-term finishing techniques.
Guests can also enjoy a Brow Bar and host Girl’s Night Outs, Little Lounger’s parties, as well as bachelorette and pre-prom parties there.
Clients like Karen Krantz, of Short Hills, a stand-up comedienne and Hyla Weiss, of Livingston, have become addicted to Blo Lounge.
Krantz treks over twice a week to make sure she has stage-ready hair for her performances, while Weiss is at the salon at least once a week or more to safeguard her consistent, shiny and sleek hair do.
“I don’t think my children even know that I have naturally curly hair because it always looks so perfect and straight,” said Weiss.
