Ah Spring!
As tourists return to New York City, coupled with the ongoing vaccination rollout and the warmer months approaching, businesses and restaurants in Times Square continue to reopen with dedicated outdoor spaces including the popular Irish pub The Mean Fiddler, House of Brews, BarDoughNYC, among others.
On behalf of the Times Square Alliance, I wanted to share the news of the recent opening of 16 Handles, located at 732 7th Avenue in Times Square just in time for the spring and summer, by Neil Hershman who owns four other franchise locations throughout Manhattan including Chelsea, Tribeca, East Village, and Murray Hill. The 31-year-old former asset hedge fund manager turned 16 Handles franchise owner has been operating and serving local New Yorkers throughout the pandemic. In 2020, Neil also signed a 10-year lease in his new Times Square location and is already welcoming the neighborhood and tourists back to the Crossroads of the World for taps of flavorful frozen yogurt.
While Times Square may often be known for its bright lights, tall buildings, and chic hotels, the backbone of the district remains with small businesses and there are many – including 653 storefront businesses, 310 of which are Food and Beverage, and 173 full-service restaurants.
