The Household Cleaning Products That Cause Allergies Or Worse

Wanting to keep your home clean is natural, and is good practice anyway. But did you know there’s a possibility that the cleaning products you use could be harmful to your children? Some cleaning products trigger allergies in children. The Consumer Protection Safety Commission even says that since 1970, cases of asthma have increased by 59%. For the safety of your child, it’s a good idea to avoid certain chemical ingredients found in some household cleaning products.

Ingredients to avoid are:

  1. Formaldehyde: Irritates the eyes, ears, nose and throat when inhaled.
  2. Ammonia: Excessive exposure could lead to blindness, lung damage or death. Mild exposure will irritate the nose and throat.
  3. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS): This can damage the skin, eyes and hair.
